Like most important change it was a long time coming but seemed to happen extremely fast. For many, the quickest transition to online teaching provided not much more than putting up a set of slides and assignments with a discussion board. Fair enough, it was an urgent need, and this was an expeditious solution. If you were lucky, students may have had access to bandwidth that supported some live lecture sessions. Here, you may have been able to even see a few of your students at a time. Excellent! We are happy to see each other! At the same time, this limited interaction is often frustrating, difficult to maneuver, and is in no way the same feeling you and your students get in your face-to-face classroom. While this is better than not interacting at all, we yearn for a more substantive connection with each other in the learning process. How do we get there?
